For my 3 year old dinosaur birthday party I prepared homemade dinosaur candies wrapped in dinosaur candy huggers.
I wanted to add candies in my party treat bags but didn’t want to give industrial made candies to 3 years old kids. After a little research I decided to try to make homemade candies.
Dinosaur Candies Recipe
It is actually very easy to make gummy bear-like candies at home.
You will need:
- Candy moulds (I used dinosaur candy moulds)
- Flavoured Gelatine (Jello or other brands. I found Jell-o to work better than Robertson's Gelatine)
- Unflavored Gelatine
- Corn Syrup
- Cornstarch
- A few drops of lemon (optional)
I tried 2 recipes and my favorite is this one from Top Secret Recipes. The dinosaur candies were really chewy and tasted very good.
Dinosaur Candy Huggers
Once the dinosaur candies were ready, I filled little plastic bags (7cm x 7cm). I used thick coloured paper (180g) on which I cut out little dinosaur candy huggers. You can download the template here. I placed the little bags on the dinosaur shaped candy huggers with double side tape
There I had homemade dinosaur candies for my dinosaur themed birthday party and filled the dinosaur party bags with my dinosaur candies. Needless to say the kids loved it. :)
